On the 11-12th of May 2017 the third edition of the WeAreDevelopers conference took place in Vienna, at the Marx Halle. With more than 3,800 attendees (developers, IT specialists, IT managers and CIOs), this was the biggest developers’ conference in Europe. FaktorZehn’s developers from Vienna could not miss this opportunity and were also present at the event.
Over more than 9000 m2 were divided into 4 different zones and 3 stages. On the stages well-known actors of the IT scene held very interesting talks. The zones were for workshops, networking and testing new technologies and in between there were stands of different companies, such as OLX, Porsche, ePunkt, Palatir, SAP or Senacor. They presented their products, were recruiting for new possible employees and offered us the much appreciated goodie bags.
Among the speakers, there are a few definitely worth mentioning:
- John Romero, award-winning game designer, co-founder of id Software, who designed well known games such as Doom or Quake – he took us through the history of id Software and presented us the principles of (game) programming
- Hakon Wium Lie, inventor of CSS/Opera – he talked about where the web came from, why CSS was invented, how we can create books with CSS, and he shared his vision that the web will last 500 more years, exactly like Gutenberg’s printing press
- Harry Roberts, Google developer expert and award-winning Consultant Front-end Architect who helps organizations and teams across the globe to plan, build, and maintain product-scale UIs talked about modalities to refactor CSS “without losing your mind”
The entire list of speakers can be found at https://www.wearedevelopers.com/conference/speakers/. Their talks and presentations will be uploaded in the next days.
It was a great experience and we cannot wait for the next year edition!
